Sales/Marketing

Have you ever worked for a professional photographer?

Have you wanted to actually be a part of creating something truly artistic?

Would you like to learn about the professional portraiture business?

Do you find it easy to sell ideas and products that you believe in?

Unicorn Photographics is currently seeking an experienced portrait studio sales person or someone with equivalent and/or readily transferable skills. If you do not have portrait studio experience you will be trained in the unique differences for sales and marketing in this market segment.
However, we are not seeking to train an unproven sales person who is "breaking into" sales. Duties will include direct (person-to-person) sales efforts at our studio as well as marketing to public schools, day cares, churches and other local organizations. All sales efforts are targeted for the Austin, Round Rock-Georgetown, TX market area.
Your income will be based 100% upon your performance as your compensation will be based entirely upon commission from the sales you generate. We are seeking and intend for you to work as an independent contractor (form 1099).
After a brief training and familiarization period it is expected that you will be able to work effectively with little supervision. You must have dependable transportation, access to a telephone and internet service. You must be willing and able to pass a criminal background check. ( This is required by some of the schools and organizations with whom we work and is not optional.)
You will have the ability to set your own hours for the most part, and will work with little day-to-day direct oversight as long as you are meeting expectations for sales revenue. You may be able to work from your home or from our studio.
However, there will be times when we will need for you to be available for specific work assignments and you must be reliable and dependable to work at times when needed. These occasions are normally no more than six hours at a time, once or twice a week, during certain times in the school year and for Christmas and other holiday seasons.
You must be able to lift up to 50 lbs without assistance and without hurting yourself.
You must be able to make professional sales calls to existing and prospective clients.
You must be fluent in both spoken and written English. Spanish language skills are also desired, but not required.
If you are interested, please call/email us to request an interview. This opportunity will remain open until filled.

Are you already a professional Model?

If so, please provide us with the contact information for your agency, or your direct information if you are not currently represented by an agency. Please provide your rates ( both hourly and daily by specialty area), your primary specialties, general availability, and any restrictions and limitations on travel and/or assignments.

Please send your current agency fact sheet with no more than five representative examples of your recent work experience. (image size limited to one megabyte/image which may be in jpg, tiff, or psd file)

All assignments are let out on a contract basis with models performing as independent contractors (i.e. IRS form 1099.)

Or, are you new to modeling?

Do you think you might have what it takes to be a working model? If so, please provide us with a brief history of any work or experience that you believe is relevant to being a model, and include no more than five recent photographs of yourself, with at least two "head shots," one facing strait on into the camera, one in profile. They need not be professional portraits, but should be of good quality. IF you do not have any, we may be able to assist you in acquiring them.

Production Support

Are you a licensed barber, hair stylist, or makeup artist?

Are you a former or current full-time photographer?

For hair and cosmetic artists, please read the following:

We have occasional need for folks to help our client look their very best for a portrait session. These sessions generally run under two hours and we need licensed/experienced hair and cosmetic artists to really pamper our clients with outstanding support before and during the portrait sessions. Generally, we need one to three hours of support per session. These are our highest quality sessions and the work volume is currently fairly low, but the expectations are very high.

There are also occasions when it is not possible for our client to schedule very much in advance. So, there are times when we need a resource on fairly short notice.

Our underlying goal for every session is that everyone involved has a lot of fun creating great works of art. If you are interested in being a part of our team, please email us with your rates ( by the session, by the hour, and/or by the head.) We also need to know your general availability and advanced notice requirements.

If you are a former or current pro photographer, read on. Do you have experience in high volume, high pressure production environments like school photography or wedding photography? If so, we would like to know more about you.

We occasionally need short term help from a 2nd camera person, or someone to help with posing and crowd-control at high volume production engage-ments (schools, community organizations, weddings, proms, etc. Also, if you are a currently active professional photographer and there are times when you need additional support, we should talk.

Office Staffing

We occasionally need part-time Office Staff, for telephone coverage and for receptionist duty. We also do occasional bulk mailings and marketing materials distribution. This position of well suited to schedules of high school students and/or retired or semi-retired people.

The normal work schedule is less than 10 hours per week. Juniors and seniors can work enough to receive their senior portrait collection with no "out of pocket" expense, and earn some spending money as well.

We fill these roles only with independent contractors (IRS 1099) and do not withhold any taxes. Minors (under age 18) must have written approval from your legal guardian. Everyone must have a valid social security number.

Seasonal Part-Time Work Opportunities

First, please allow us to make a plea for those less fortunate than we. We at Unicorn Photographcs are still looking for sponsors this year to provide funds or gifts for Santa to distribute to disadvantaged children and charitable non-profits. If you can make a denotation, or know someone who can, please give me a call today! Christmas is almost here!

If you know of a worthy organization that would appreciate their very own visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus, please call me today!

Do you have a size 44" Ho, Ho Ho kind of a laugh, a twinkle in your eye; a love of, and patience with... small children? Does wearing a head-to-toe velvet Red suit, and long beard, long white hair, mustache, and eye lashes for four hours, even if the occasional Texas summer-time heat wave blows through instead of a "cold front" and raises the temperature inside the suit enough to melt your cookies and curdle your milk?

Can you still bellow out a heart-felt, "Ho, HO, HO!" when you've just been peed on, or puked on...for the third time in the same day?

If so, you might want to give us a call. We have the suit, and the Santa Gift bag...and even a nice

May the joy of the season find it way into your heart, into your life, and into the lives of us all.

Owner, Unicorn Photographics
